Proactive Tree Management for RAND Brothers Farms

Client:

Location:

Challenge:

RAND Brothers Farms

Multiple farms across Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire

RAND Brothers Farms needed a comprehensive tree survey and management solution for the trees across its various farm locations. This was to ensure the trees’ ongoing safety and health and proactively manage any potential risks.

Solution:

  • We provided an initial quote outlining the scope and cost of a detailed tree condition survey.
  • To ensure impartiality and provide the client with the best options, we sourced three independent quotes from reputable tree survey companies.
  • Once the client chose their preferred surveyor, we scheduled the survey and facilitated communication to ensure a smooth process.
  • After completing the survey, we reviewed the findings and obtained quotes for all the necessary tree works, from felling and pruning to planting and ongoing maintenance.
  • We then presented a complete, easy-to-understand package to the client, detailing all the recommended actions and their costs.

Outcome:

  • RAND Brothers Farms received a high-quality, unbiased tree survey, which detailed the health and safety of their trees across all their farms.
  • The multi-quote approach ensured competitive pricing and allowed the client to choose the best surveyor for their needs.
  • Managing the entire process, from initial quotes to scheduling and final recommendations, saved the client significant time and effort.
  • The comprehensive package of tree work quotes allowed RAND Brothers Farms to make informed decisions about their tree management, ensuring their trees’ long-term health and safety.

“Rand Brothers recently employed the help of Jonathan and his team to conduct tree condition surveys across our farms. They did so in good time and then carried out the necessary tree works in a safe and efficient fashion. I would not hesitate to recommend Shelford Tree Service.”

Tree Removal and Safety Improvement on the A505

Client:

Location:

Fordham Farming Partnership

Odsey Estate, Baldock, Hertfordshire

Challenge:

  • Four mature sycamores and one mature beech tree were identified as leaning heavily over the A505 highway, posing a significant liability and safety risk due to the possibility of branches falling or the tree falling over in high winds.
  • To conduct a tree condition survey of the entire estate where roads and footpaths were a concern.

Solution:

  • Removal of the trees to a safe height of approximately 4m, retaining them as screening.
  • Logs and chips were left in situ as per the client’s request.
  • MEWP (Cherry Picker) was employed to ensure safety and control during the operation.
  • Shelford organised the project from Tree survey, through to completing all the necessary works. Savings the client time and money.
  • High-speed traffic management was implemented to protect both the work crew and road users during the tree removal process.

Outcome:

  • The dangerous trees were removed, eliminating the risk of falling branches or trees falling onto the A505.The work was completed efficiently and professionally, with minimal disruption to traffic flow.
  • The client was extremely satisfied with the quality of the work and the level of safety maintained throughout the project.

“Since being introduced to Shelford Tree Service, I have used them exclusively. They try to understand exactly what one is wanting to achieve and then carry it out professionally and efficiently. The site, following the completion of the work, is left tidy and safe. It has been a pleasure to work with them.”
