Tree Deadwood Removal & Crown Cleaning
Removing dead, dying and dangerous branches from the tree canopy
Occasionally trees will naturally shed small dead twigs and branches which is normally nothing to be concerned about.
Most trees over 15 years old will have accumulated dead wood in their canopy. It’s not necessarily a sign the tree is in decline, it’s normal for trees to shed branches that aren’t generating enough energy to sustain their place. Sometimes there are large amounts of deadwood that trees struggle to shed naturally and need a bit of help, this can be done at any time of the year.
Larger bits of dead wood should be removed when a tree is overhanging targets such as roads, buildings, public footpaths etc.
When deadwood removal is carried out, our climber will inspect the crown for any other potential hazards, they may also remove damaged, diseased, dying and crossing branches which are potential hazards if left in the crown.
A tree may not need all its deadwood removed as it can be beneficial to species of insects and birds and is best left alone.
